The CBI and financial consultancy firm PricewaterhouseCoopers (PwC) have released a practical guide for companies on reporting greenhouse gas emissions based on a fictitious company, 'Typico plc'.
The CBI recently published its proposals for a common business approach to greenhouse gas emissions reporting, laying out a simple and common method for businesses to follow when publicly reporting their greenhouse gas emissions.
The ‘Typico Plc’ report has been designed by PwC to help companies interpret emission reporting guidelines.
The template illustrates how companies can report their strategy, targets, performance and benchmarking of a company’s efforts to reduce its carbon footprint and adapt to climate change. It also demonstrates how to connect emissions reporting data with financial data.
Whilst not designed to be a ‘one-size-fits-all’ guide to greenhouse gas emissions disclosure for all companies to follow, the template does present in practice how a leading company might choose to report a range of climate change and green house gas emissions information.
Paul Rew, UK Renewables and Low Carbon Leader at PwC, and Rhian Kelly, Head of Climate Change, sat down to discuss how businesses can use the template –listen here.
The Typico plc model forms part of PwC’s contributions to the work of the CBI Carbon Reporting Group and the international Climate Disclosure Standards Board.
The Typico plc guide is available for download here.
PwC was last week recognised for outstanding environmental performance at the Sunday Times Best Green Companies Awards.
