Moving to a low-carbon economy remains one of the most challenging issues for the UK. But this shift is vital in helping us pull through the downturn, secure our energy supply and
meet climate change commitments at a manageable cost.

This event follows the recent launch of the CBI’s low-carbon roadmaps. These set out a timetable of actions across the economy between now and 2020, to ensure carbon emissions targets are met and enable the UK to seize the opportunities presented by shifting to a low-carbon economy – from new nuclear and renewables, to smart meters and electric cars.

‘Is a low-carbon economy in sight?’ the second seminar in the CBI Climate Change Forum Series, will bring together key decision makers from across UK business and politics to assess if the country is on track in its pursuit of a low-carbon economy.

Delegates will be able to discuss whether the government is delivering on its ambitious targets and if a low-carbon economy can become ‘business as usual’.

The programme will examine the following:

• Is the Government on track with meeting ambitious
targets with real action?
• What are the key drivers to creating the conditions for
a low-carbon economy?
• Is the UK economy really ready to move to a
low-carbon economy?
• How is government supporting industry in delivering
low-carbon technologies?
• How can the UK compete with America and become
a low-carbon market leader?
• Is the UK competitive enough for an emerging
clean-tech sector to thrive?

Key reasons to attend:
• A useful networking opportunity
• Forum for the sharing of best practice
